Laminitis in Horses

Laminitis is a disease that affects the feet of hoofed animals (ungulates) and it is found mostly in horses and cattle. Clinical signs include foot tenderness progressing to inability to walk, increased digital pulses, and increased temperature in the hooves. Severe cases with outwardly visible clinical signs are known by the colloquial term ‘founder’, and progression of the disease may lead to perforation of the coffin bone through the sole of the hoof, requiring aggressive treatment or euthanasia.

Homeopathic Treatment of Laminitis

The following homeopathic remedies will help horses who experience extreme discomfort and acute pain. In the acute form it affects all four feet at the same time time, the horse will be reluctant to move, the animal leans back making the it extremely difficult to to encourage it to go forward at all. There will be heat over the coronary band at the top of the hoof and usually pain, sweating, rapid breathing and a worried expression on the face…
