Homeopathic Conium Veterinary Materia Medica

Conium is the homeopathic Remedy for Old age - Hind leg weakness - Tumors. Conium is an excellent remedy for animal conditions often attributed to old age, a time of weakness, local congestions and sluggishness, such as difficult gait, trembling, sudden loss of strength while walking, painful stiffness of legs, etc. Old age is the typical environment that Conium chooses to manifest its action. Growths of tumors invite it also. Conium acts on the glandular system, engorging and indurating it.

Paraplegic conditions of pets and any hind leg weakness, e.g. it has given excellent results in post-distemper paralysis in dogs where ascending potencies are generally required. It has a beneficial action on small mammary tumors in the bitch, especially where growths come on with age. Some forms of hardening of the lymph glands will benefit. The general involvement of the peripheral nervous system leads it to be successful in treating older animals where there is a weak bladder and it causes urination powers to deteriorate, which makes emptying the bladder difficult. Its affinity to hardened tissue suggests its use in prostate enlargement in dogs.

Dosing Examples: In most cases, Conium works best when used in higher potencies (30C - 200C) given infrequently, especially for growths and muscular weakness, paralysis, etc. Otherwise lower potencies 6C to 12C would be indicated in other conditions in treatment. Using Conium in steadily ascending potencies enhances its effect. If you are a novice it would be best to begin with a 30c using the single dry dose and the wait and watch method of the 4th Organon or the Split-Dose method of the 6th Edition.
